Liverpool's chances of signing AC Milan player Franck Kessie this summer appear to be fading, as the midfielder has decided to remain in Italy.
Following the departure of Georginio Wijnaldum, the Reds are on the lookout for a new midfielder, with the 24-year-old rumored to be one of their targets this summer.
Kessie, who is presently representing Ivory Coast at the 2020 Olympic Games, has now given an update on his future plans, indicating his wish to remain with the Serie A club.
"I'm proud to have chosen Milan and it is not my intention to leave. Indeed, I want to stay forever," Kessie told Gazetta dello Sport.
"When I come back from the Olympics, I'll fix everything. I just want Milan. Sporting director Paolo Maldini knows my thoughts".
Liverpool are said to be monitoring numerous midfielders around Europe, including Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez, Lyon's Houssem Aouar, and Leicester City's Youri Tielemans. Jurgen Klopp is now expected to turn his attention to other targets.
