πŸ₯‡ Bayern Munich striker Lewandowski receives Golden Shoe award

Bayern Munich Robert Lewandowski has received his first-ever European Golden Shoe after scoring 41 goals in 2020/21.

Lewandowski was in fine form last season, netting 41 goals, bettering the mark of 40 achieved by former Bayern striker Gerd Mueller almost 50 years ago.

"I am very proud," Lewandowski said at the ceremony in Munich's club museum, adding "you must always believe in great performances, regardless of where you come from."

"I would like to thank my family, my teammates, for the coaching staff, and all of FC Bayern - without their support, I couldn't win such titles. I dedicate this award to all the people who stand by my side every day. I'm very happy with what we have achieved together".

Six-time winner Lionel Messi was second with 30 goals for Barcelona, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo who had 29 for Juventus.

Lewandowski succeeds Lazio's Ciro Immobile who won the award in 2020.
