Laliga giants FC Barcelona wants to resign goalkeeper Andre Onana from Ajax when his contract expires.
Onana is a graduate of Barca's famous La Masia and is open to returning to Camp Nou although there are reports that he is set to sign a pre-agreement with Inter Milan in the winter transfer window.
Onana who is now 25 arrived at La Masia in 2010 from the Samuel Eto’o Academy and spent five years on the Catalan giants’ books but never managed an appearance for the first team or the B team for that matter.
He did feature several times for the Barcelona Under-19 setup in the UEFA Youth League before departing for Ajax in 2015. While he made his name at Ajax, he was hit with a doping ban earlier this year something that has seen him not play since February.
The player will be back in action in November but with his deal running out, he is yet to sign a new contract with the club said to be in the market for options with club director Marc Overmars confirming that a renewal is not being considered.
Moretto claims that the Blaugrana have had contact with the 25-year-old’s camp over the possibility of a move, as they see him as a great opportunity to sign up on a free transfer.
With second-choice goalkeeper Neto angling for an exit, a move for Onana looks justified, although it might end up blocking Inaki Pena’s promotion to the first-team setup.
