Howe agrees deal in principle to become Newcastle coach

Eddie Howe has agreed in principle a two-and-a-half-year deal to become the new Newcastle manager.

The Magpies are without a manager following the departure of Steve Bruce. The club had identified Villarreal's boss Unai Emery who turned them down and opted to remain with the Laliga side.

According to reports, On Wednesday Howe held additional talks with Newcastle over zoom regarding their vacant managerial position which continued into Thursday. Talks were positive as they discussed the finer details of his plans for the club and the makeup of his backroom team.

At this stage, it seems unlikely he will be in the dugout for Saturday's game with Brighton, but there is an appetite from both sides to get things sorted to enable this to happen.

Attention now turns to sort agreements with his backroom staff.

Newcastle’s owners have been impressed with the way Howe presented his views on the club and his detail and research into the club.
