Aston Villa considering Gerrard as Dean Smith replacement

Premier Lague side Aston Villa are considering Steven Gerrard as a replacement for the sacked Dean Smith.

Villa confirmed on Sunday that they had parted ways with Smith after a spate of poor results that has seen the club fail to win any of their last five matches.

The Daily Mail reports that Gerrard is admired by some key figures at Villa after doing some fantastic job with Scottish giants Rangers who he helped to the league title last season.

Apart from Gerrard, Denmark coach Kasper Hjulmand has strongly been linked with the job as well as fellow Premier League managers Ralph Hasenhuttl and Thomas Frank.

Smith who took over as Villa manager in 2018 and led the club out of the Championship and into the Premier League, helped Villa to an 11th place finish last season but the same has not been replicated in the current campaign.
