Kimmich among German players in Covid quarantine

Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is one of five players in Germany’s national football squad having to quarantine after one tested positive for coronavirus.

Information from the German federation (DFB) revealed on Tuesday that the infected player, Niklas Suele, is fully vaccinated and currently asymptomatic, added the DFB.

"After players and staff were PCR-tested as they arrived at the Germany team accommodation to start work ahead of two World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein in Wolfsburg’s Volkswagen Arena on Thursday (18:00 CET) and Armenia in Yerevan on Sunday (18:00 CET), one positive test has been reported.

"The player who tested positive is fully vaccinated and currently asymptomatic, and is isolating," a statement from DFB noted.

Fellow Bayern teammates Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and Jamal Musiala as well as Karim Adeyemi of RB Salzburg, have been asked to isolate because they are close contacts of his, even though they have tested negative, DFB chief director Bierhoff said.
