Injury Update: Spurs without Cristian Romero & Lo Celso ahead of Leeds United encounter

Tottenham Hotspur will be missing Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso for Sunday's match against Leeds United, as the club continues to suffer the consequences of yet another inconvenient international break.

In Argentina's goalless draw with Brazil on Wednesday, Romero, 23, suffered a hamstring injury, and in Antonio Conte's first two matches as Tottenham manager, the young defender was in the starting XI.

Conte also confirmed on Friday that Romero's international teammate Lo Celso has returned to the club with a lower level of fitness.

Conte said: “It is bad news about Romero and his injury. I spoke with the doctors and now we wait for seven to 10 days for another scan to understand the time that he needs to recover.

“Also, Lo Celso did not come back in perfect physical condition. I do not know if he will be available (for Sunday). For sure Romero is not available, Lo Celso I do not know.”

A mention of Ndombele:

The Italian added: “I have seen that many managers struggle with this situation and about the position. For sure Tanguy has the quality. At the same time, he has to understand that there is a team and he has to play into the team.

“I think it means that it is important to keep order and to do what the position asks you to do.

“In my football, I have an idea and in this idea, there are tasks for the players. Every single player has to know what he has to do. Otherwise, if every player just goes and runs around the pitch, I think it will be a mess.”
