🔥 Bayern Munich stunned at Augsburg

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away at Augsburg on Friday night as action resumed across Europe after a two-week break.

Mads Pedersen and Andre Hahn earned the struggling Augsburg the three points, while Bayern's consolation was netted by non-other than Robert Lewandowski

The defending champions were in serious appetite from the first whistle, pinning their hosts into their own half with attack after another.

It however bore no fruits and the Augsburg took a surprise lead against the run of play in the 23rd minute through Pedersen.

Bayern came close to equalising a few minutes later but Leroy Sane wasted a glorious opportunity.

They were meant to pay for the miss as the hosts doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Iago's perfect cross into the box was met by Hahn, heading home past Manuel Neuer.

Bayern's reply was immediate with Thomas Müller flicking Benjamin Pavard's cross on with a backheeled assist for Lewandowski to sweep the ball past Rafal Gikiewicz on the volley.

The Pole then missed a sitter early in the second half, volleying over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

Augsburg defended deeper and deeper as the game wore on, and managed to hold on to the precious win, their third against Bayern in the Bundesliga.

The loss means Borussia Dortmund could move to within a point if they win on Saturday when they host Stuttgart.
