Sergio Aguero has been forced to retire from football early, according to Gerard Romero, in a heartbreaking turn of circumstances.
The decision was made more than a week after the news initially broke. Aguero was substituted against Deportivo Alaves due to chest trouble, which was later diagnosed as a heart problem.
Following that, Aguero revealed on his Twitch feed that he had not made a decision yet, and that he was awaiting medical confirmation.
According to Romero, the decision has been made, and an announcement could be made next week at a press conference. The news came as a shock today, just days before Xavi's debut game as Barcelona manager, a rivalry match against Espanyol, no less.
After suffering an injury in training, Aguero's debut with Barcelona was postponed for three months. He did, however, score for the garnet and blue in a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid on October 24th.
A Premier League legend
Since joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, the Argentine forward has provided the Etihad club with a decade of outstanding service. Aguero scored 260 goals and added 73 assists in 390 appearances for Manchester City, winning 15 accolades throughout his ten years with the club.
