Laliga giants FC Barcelona are closing on the signing of Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
The Frenchman who is currently out with an injury is yet to sign a new deal with United despite his association with the club coming to an end in the summer with Laliga touted to be one of his next possible destinations.
While the player has heavily been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past, El Nacional reports that Barcelona may be the team closer to signing Pogba. It is claimed that the Catalan club’s president, Joan Laporta, is a huge admirer of the Frenchman and has dreamt of bringing him to Camp Nou.
Laporta is tempted by the opportunity of landing a player of his caliber on a free transfer, even though new manager Xavi Hernandez is happy with his options in the midfield department.
Having lost Paul Pogba on a free transfer already once in the past, Manchester United look set to see history repeat itself a decade later in 2022 with the club said to be happy to take the talks until the end of the season if they cant convince him in January.
Barcelona has been struggling financially in recent months and it remains if they would be able to afford the player's wages which is one of the highest in the Premier League.
