Xavi has insisted that Frenkie de Jong will not leave the club despite recent speculation about the Netherlands international's future.
Catalan giants Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, but will have to sell first due to their ongoing financial difficulties.
De Jong has been heavily linked with a move away, with Manchester City reportedly keen to sign the midfielder during the January transfer window.
Xavi, on the other hand, has categorically denied reports that the 24-year-old is on the verge of leaving the club, insisting that the Dutch midfielder is "not for sale."
"Frenkie de Jong will not leave the club. He's not for sale - we consider Frenkie as a key player for Barca. The club is working to strengthen the team in the winter transfer window. If a new signing arrives, someone has to leave," Xavi told reporters.
De Jong is once again a key player for Barcelona in 2021-22, making 16 appearances across all competitions and contributing one goal and two assists.
