🟥 Andriy Shevchenko has been sacked by Genoa

Genoa has officially terminated head coach Andriy Shevchenko.

Since his November 7 arrival, the 45-year-old Ukrainian coach has overseen 11 matches in charge of the Rossoblu. He won one of those games, drew three, and lost the remaining seven, battling to improve the club's fortunes following the dismissal of former coach Davide Ballardini.

Genoa expressed gratitude to Shevchenko and his staff for their efforts and confirmed that Under-17 coach Abdoulay Konko will serve as interim coach until a permanent replacement is found.

Shevchenko previously enjoyed success as head coach of the Ukrainian national team, managing 52 matches over the course of his five-year tenure. He led the team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 for the first time in their history before stepping down shortly afterwards.

Genoa's last game under the Ukrainian coach was a 3-1 defeat to Milan in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
