‘Periscope’ view: Chelsea target Man United target
The Blues are reportedly weighing in with a bid for long-term Manchester United target Ivan Perisic.
It won’t come as the greatest surprise to learn that the Blues are looking to boost their squad after a shock 3-2 loss to Burnley on Saturday.
The Inter Milan winger is rated at £48m – and so far Man United have failed to match that price. They were thought to have turned their back on the 28-year-old after having a £35m bid rejected.
And now, according to the Daily Mirror, Chelsea are on the case.
Former Inter Milan and Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo claimed during the weekend that Perisic could end up at Stamford Bridge.
Crespo said: -It’s possible he joins Chelsea – but he plays on the left and on the left you have Eden Hazard, Perisic and Marcos Alonso.
-Maybe he could come in through the middle or to the right, If you put a lot of money down, even Inter will sell him, but they don’t want to sell him, he added.
The 28-year old winger would bring something different to the Chelsea team if he were to arrive. Players like Willian, Pedro and Hazard drop into pockets, link play neatly and make runs into dangerous positions; the Inter man is a lot more aggressive and direct in the way he looks to attack opponents.
As well as the Croatian, the English champions are said to be ready to swoop for a clutch of players, including Juventus' Alex Sandro, Valencia right-back Joao Cancelo and Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
