AFC Leopards stormed in the Semi finals of the GoTV Shield after trouncing National Super League side Wazito FC 7-1 in the quarter finals played at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

Leopards took a lead at the eighth minute, Haroun Nyaka's ball was handled in the box by Wazito defender and the centre referee awarded a penalty to the Big Cats.

Alexis quick double

Burundian striker Alexis Kitenge stepped up and sent his penalty kick into the bottom left corner of the goal. Minutes later Wazito FC committed another penalty from another  hand ball and this time round Kitenge found the bottom right leaving Njunge well beaten for 2-0 lead.

Wazito went on to push for an equalizer  but their move was thwarted after Robinson Kamura tackled Pitson Mutamba and left calls for a penalty renting the air. Their efforts to comeback in the game received a blow at the 18th minute after Dennis Sikhai in-swinger cross was redirected into the net by Marcelus Ingotsi's header.

Kitenge miss

Leopards would have netted the fourth at 34th minute but Kitenge could not beat Njuge for a third after being set up by a low cross from Nyaka.

Leopards final chance in the first half saw Duncan Otieno link up with Aziz Okaka on a counter but the former Ushuru FC man loop did not find the net. Wazito push for the equalizer saw Mugalia head wide while Mark Odhiambo's free kick missed the top corner by inches. Odhiambo also had another attempt as the halftime break approached but it went wide.

Final half

From the halftime Peter Lukige and Job Omurwa were introduced to stabilize the midfield. Leopards however managed to add more goals to the scoresheet. Defender Michael Kibwage rounded the Odhaimbo on the left wing and took a shot that troubled Njuge into the net.

Another break saw Leopards' winger Okaka break and round Wazito's keeper but he was denied by the post as he tried to pushed the ball into the empty net. Wazito pulled one back after Pitson Mutamba was brought down in the box by Sikhayi.

Dennis Gicheru knocked the penalty at the centre of the goal and left Andika well beaten. Ingotsi grabbed his second from another spectacular after a crosser from Kibwage.

An error from Njuge saw Leopards get the sixth goal after subsitute Samuel Ndungu's shot. Kitenge completed his hattrick after another penalty in the dying minutes of the clash.

Leopards will now play Vihiga United on the Semi final of the Shield.
