Kenyan pair sit out of PSL opener

South Africa based Kenyan pair of Brian Mandela and Ali Abondo were not part of the match-day squads of their respective teams as the 2017/18 Premier Soccer League season kicked off this weekend.

Abondo, who recently signed with Bloemfontein Celtic, missed the team draw against Kaizer Chiefs as Celtic rallied back to through Atusaye Nyondo's second half penalty.

Mandela still MIA

Elsewhere, Brian Mandela missed the team of Choice opener at the Royal Bafokeng as  United beat Platinum Stars 2-0 on Sunday 20 August for a winning start to the new season.

Second half goals from Deolin Mekoa and Legobang Maboe did the work for Fadlu Davids side.

Onyango is reportedly wanted out of the club with African Champions, Mamelodi Sundowns keen on landing the Ex-Santos defender.
