AFC Leopards striker Alexis Kitenge has revealed that the main reason behind his celebration was thank the coach for encouraging words he gave him during his goal drought.

The Burundian International joined the Den in July and has been experiencing a goal drought despite being a regular starter.

He scored three goals past Wazito FC as they faced off in GoTv Shield Quarters and ended the long wait for a goal.  After scoring the opening goal from the spot, the forward paced down to the bench to celebrate with the coach and other players on the bench.

Kitenge says Matano kept encouraging him during his struggles in front of goal. He is hoping to net more goals as he continues settle at the den.

-The coach had encouraged me alot during  the times I was not scoring. Ahead of the clash and he told that if I score should look for him. So that is why I went to celebrate with him. I believe this goals will open avenues for more goals,he said.

Leopards will face Tusker on Thursday and later tackle Gor Mahia over the weekend.
