Van Dijk’s new plan to leave Southampton

Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk has reportedly parted ways with his agent in an attempt to force his way out of St Mary’s stadium.

Sources claim that the Dutchman, who recently had a transfer request rejected, fired his agent after the 26-year-old came to the conclusion that his current adviser was not representing his interests to the best of their ability.

It is rumored that Van Dijk’s former agent was the culprit behind the defender’s failed move to Liverpool after illegally arriving at a bumper deal which would have benefited them both. The move however fell through after the Saints accused the Reds of illegally tapping up the former Celtic player.

Van Dijk is said to be also planning to break the terms of a six-year contract he signed last year, which made it mandatory for the defensive specialist to stay with his current club for at least two years in order to secure a move to either Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
