Vihiga coach hails defender after national team call up

04 Sep 2017, 16:00

Vihiga United assistant coach Francis Xavier believes defender Bernard Ochieng is good enough to be a regular for the national, Harambee Stars  after his recent call up for the friendly match against Mozambique.

The central defender travelled with Stars to Mozambique for the match but didn't make it to match day squad. He had been in fine form for Vihiga for the last two seasons and Xavier believes the centre back is one of the best in the county.

Good player

-Benard is one of the best central defenders in the country and the call up is merited. I believe once he gets a chance he will be a regular for the national team. He's a young clever player who can only get better, Xavier told Futaa.com.

Ochieng was close to sealing a January move to Gor Mahia but the deal fell through in final stages
