Masoud Juma netted the winner for visiting Kariobangi Sharks 10 minutes after being introduced into play to hand the KPL newbies a solitary goal win over hosts Bandari FC on Saturday 9 September at the Mbaraki Stadium.

The hosts made their intentions known from the onset with a Msagha header from a Nkata cross before Oyemba was then forced to save from close range from an Abich freekick in the fifth minute. Bandari however came under attack in the 11th minute but Okoth was at hand to save the low shot from Duka Abuya from the edge of the box.

Duke was at it again six minutes later from a Kambu cross on the right. Dockers and former Sofapaka defender Felly Mulumba then sent back to play a Wycliffe Otieno shot who had overlapped on the wings. Homeboyz keeper on the opposite end then finger-tipped Nkata shot from a corner by Abich.

Okoth came to the rescue yet again for Bandari in the 30th minute from a Paul Kamau shot set through by Elly Asieche before the attacker yet again came calling five minutes later through a freekick but the shot flew over the bar.

Tables turned/missed chances

Wambani received the first booking for a foul on Kamau before Lugogo shot flew off target. The midfielder kept shining into the halftime mark setting up Msagha but his cross to Hassan Abdalla was wasted. He then headed weakly towards goal from a Kenga shot allowing Oyemba to save in Sharks goal.

Bandari maintained their control of the game with Hassan missing an open chance after being set through by Felly Mulumba in the 50th minute. Kenga then set up Msagha but he applied too much pressure on his volley.

Yidah was booked for a deliberate handball as the hosts piled pressure but Nkata’s shot wide from Kenga’s cross is saved by Paul Kamau. Bandari sharpened its attack bringing in former Gor Mahia man Enock Agwanda for Hassan Abdalla.

Keeper Okoth, then had to deal with Yidah again and another double from Saneh and a rebound by Duke Abuya. Bandari were forced to make changes in the goalkeeping department after he collided with Msagha in attack and he was replaced by Robert Mboya.

Juma then made his presence felt when he converted an Ebrimah Saneh cross after the latter had made a run through the wings. Mboya was soon called to action to save a Wambani shot in target in the dying minutes before Waiswa was set up by Kenga but the drive was also off target. Ebrima wasted another chance before Masoud failed to stretch Sharks lead in the final minute os added time shooting wide from close range.
