SHOCK TWIST: Pep defends Liverpool winger

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly said that Liverpool forward Sadio Mane’s foul on City goalie Ederson Moraes was not ‘intentional’.

The Spaniard was speaking in the press conference following their stunning 5-0 victory over Liverpool, where questions about the forward’s culpability in the shocking incident were constantly raised.

Pep however chose to empathise with both Moraes and Mane by stating that it was unlikely that the marksman injured the stopper on purpose, but that the referee’s decision to send him off was sound since the challenge was ‘dangerous’.

The fixture had initially promised to an entertaining back-and-forth affair, but ultimately ended up being one-sided after the Senegal international was sent packing in the 37th minute for recklessly stomping the doorman in the face in an aerial encounter.
