Perfect response! Nzoia thrashes Bandari at Sudi

Nzoia Sugar bounced back from a heavy loss to Gor Mahia FC by thrashing visiting Bandari FC 3-0 in a league match played at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.

Being a home match, Nzoia sugar were seeking to avenge the first leg 2-1 loss to Bandari in Mombasa and registered the third home win this season. The Sugarmen showed intent from the start with their attacks while the visitors sat back and opted to soak the pressure from their hosts. The first attempt was from Masita Masuta but his shot in the opening seconds flew high.

Juma’s opener

Lawrence Juma also had an attempt at the fourth minute but his shot could not trouble the opposing keeper. The midfielder finally found the net at the 16th minute netting Nzoia’s opening goal after a cross from Masita Masuta.

As the clock hit the 20th minute mark, heavens opened at Sudi Stadium but could not stop the home side from doubling the lead. Masita Masuta beat Wilson Obungu for Nzoia’s second goal at the 26th of the clash after being set up Juma. Bandari FC had their attempts but could not get back in the game in the opening half.

Bandari’s midfielder Shaban Kenga was cautioned after he put the ball into the net with his hand in the opening minutes of the second half following a cross from Michael Apudo.  Another attempt for Bandari came from Wilberforce Lugogo from a free kick but Nzoia keeper denied him.

Enock Agwanda and Baron Oketch were introduced by Bandari as the side continued to chase the game but could not bring the side back to the game. The closest they came to getting an equalizer was at the 78th minute but Mustapha Odour denied Felly Mulumba from scoring after a header.

Juma’s brace

Bare a minute after Juma was cautioned for diving, he pounced on a rebound after a shot from Luke Namanda and scored the third goal that send coach Bernard Mwalala into wild celebrations.
