Playtime for Kenyan defender as Timbers fall
Portland Timbers home to Kenya defender Lawrence Olum suffered a 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake in a Major League Soccer played at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Real Salt Lake won the ball in the midfield and managed to score the opening goal through Albert Rusnak who beat two Timbers defenders sent hard shot from distance to beat Timbers goalkeeper Jeff Attinella at the 14th minute.
Portland Timbers equalized at the 47th minute through on-form Diego Valeri. The forward headed in Asprilla’s delivery and scored his eight straight league goal.
A minute after the hours mark, Jefferson Savarino restored Real Salt lead with his superb strike. Olum was introduced in the final 10 minutes but could not help his side get back to the game.
Despite the Loss Timbers remain second on the league standings with 44 points despite the loss. They face Orlando City in the next league match.
