The Executive committee of the Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) has endorsed Kenya to host the 2017 CECAFA Challenge Cup slated for late November to December.
The endorsement was arrived at in an Executive committee meeting held in Khartoum this Thursday 28 September, where members expressed solidarity with Kenya over the CHAN failure but assured that they will encourage Kenya to host the challenge Cup.
Burundi also got the regional body endorsement to host the Under 17 and Rwanda Women championship.
The Intra- country regional games have not taken place in the past one year and the regional body, in the meeting, agreed to drastically overhaul the current CECAFA statutes and enact a new document to align CECAFA to CAF and FIFA's.
Association President Mutasim Gafar pledged that Kenyan will be accorded all the support it needs it that regard although adding that another country will be proposed as standby owing to the ongoing political situation.
The regional games were last held in Rwanda(2015) where Uganda beat Rwanda to the honours.
