Wanyama should be fit as Spurs fixtures pile

With piling duties for Tottenham Hotspurs, the services of Kenya's captain Victor Wanyama may come in handy now as the team plunges into Champions League competition and intensifying EPL.

Wanyama was one of Tottenham Hotspur's stand-out performers last season but the Kenyan midfielder faces a battle to get back into the first XI. The 26-year-old hasn't kicked a ball for Tottenham since August and although the likes of Harry Winks and Eric Dier have done nothing to deserve being dropped, manager Mauricio Pochettino simply needs to bring Wanyama back immediately.

Spurs' next six matches are against Bournemouth, Real Madrid, Liverpool, West Ham, Manchester United and Real Madrid again. It's a rather gruesome-looking run of fixtures and there is a risk that the Winks-Dier axis will be exposed in a brutal way.

Robust Beast

Wanyama, a £12 million signing from Southampton in the summer of 2016, was exceptional for Tottenham last season and there is simply no way that Pochettino can afford to leave out such a robust figure.

Winks has been excellent in the Lilywhites' last two games, earning him an England debut last week, but impressing against APOEL and Huddersfield is nothing compared to the challenges that lie ahead and Wanyama - expected back for the Liverpool game on October 22 - is simply a better, more experienced option than the 21-year-old.
