Mathare United has cement their survival chances with a crucial 1-0 win over Nzoia Sugar at Kasarani Stadiun this Sunday 5 November.

Samuel Olwande cooly tucked spot kick secured the much needed win to see  Slum Boys back on winning ways.

Mathare United head into the tie in need of points and Cliff Nyakeya got them quickly in thick of things in opening stages forcing Bernard Mangala to a couple of saves

The dominant host were left to feel hard done  ten minutes in when ref only awarded a foul at edge of the area declining their call for penalty.

Francis Kimanzi was never to wait for long after a penalty was called out against  Festus Okiring for an elbow on Nyakeya.

Olwande was the man to beat Mangala from the spot and he duly sid thag to see Mathare to 15th minute lead.

The goal saw both sides engage in a thrilling end to end stuff in remaining half.

Kwitonda missed perfect chance to see visitors leveled when he failed to get the touch to Luke Namanda cross  before Edwin Wafula also missed a scoring opportunity

Trailing Nzoia sustained their forays after restart and Okiring went close to atoning for his mistake but the right back could only find the side of the net moments to the break.

Edgar Nzano was presented with couple of chances but could muster an equalizer for Bernard Mwalala side.

The attacker should have done much better midway when Levis Opiyo was of his line but he fluffed his lines again.

Not even a series of late changes would see the visitors take anything from the game as Mathare held out to pick all the points at home.
