Nzoia Sugar faults complacency after Mathare loss
Nzoia Sugar assistant coach Vincent Sifuma has blamed complacency for his team's narrow 0-1 loss to Mathare United in a Kenyan Premier League match played on Sunday 5 November at Moi Kasarani Stadium.
A Samwel Olwande early strike from the penalty spot helped Mathare register a win in a closely fought affair; the win helped ease their relegation fears with two rounds of league matches to go.
Speaking after the match, Sifuma said his side was punished for being complacent especially in the opening stages of the game.
-I think my players over celebrated our win over AFC Leopards and were not sharp today. We were sloppy especially in the first half, gave them a penalty and that's how we lost, he told Futaa.com.
The millers looked re-energized after the interval, created numerous chances which they failed to utilize and Sifuma says wastefulness has cost his team severally this term.
-This has been the story of our season so far, we just can't convert chances we create. Today we had many chances to equalize and even win in the second half but we just couldn't, it's an area we have to work on going forward, he added.
Next for the millers is Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday 11 November.
