Eric Johanna's goal not enough to rescue Vasalund from relegation

Harambee Stars and former Mathare United sensation Eric Johanna Omondi netted the equalizer for his Swedish outfit Vasalund during the weekend league match against fifth-placed Umea for a one all draw at the Skytteholms IP (Solna).

The goal and draw were however not enough to assure the team of a spot in the division One [Norra] next season as they were handed the chop being five points behind Sollentune who are fourth from bottom. Maapake struck the equalizer in the 18th minute after their visiting opponents netted the opener in the 11th minute through Swedish attacker Simon M√•rtensson for an early lead. Johanne however pressed and got the equalizer that sustained their fight to evade relegation.

This comes just a fortnight after he struck a hat-trick in their match against IFK Lulea making his mark at the club that has already admitted to his importance having to recall him from national duty two months ago as the Europe club looked to register an elusive win and escape relegation.

Johanna's goal tally at the club since joining in March this year has risen to five. He bagged his debut national team goal against in an AFCON qualifier Congo before scoring another goal in a friendly tie against Mozambique.
