Gor Mahia defender Karim Nzigiyimana will be out of action for at least three months after picking an injury during the Kenya Premier League against Mathare United. Champions Gor lost the match 1-0.

The club, terming the Mathare tie 'disastrous' confirmed that the Burundian underwent a surgery in a Nairobi hospital and will be discharged on Saturday. KoGalo wished their star quick recovery.

- Defender Karim Nizigiyimana got injured during the disastrous tie against Mathare United (mid-October) in Thika where he played for just 14 minutes before being stretched off the pitch, the club said.

Scans and Check-Ups

- He needed a good medical attention and the scans and check-ups revealed that the player had a torn achilles tendon on his right foot and needed a surgery/operation or that be the ‘end’ of his football career. With the help of the club, Karim was admitted today in one of the hospitals in Nairobi and had a successful surgery – he will be discharged on Saturday, the statement continued.

Karim may feature as late as February before the next season and his presence will be important as The Green Army get back to continental competition; CAF Champions League.

- With that, he will be out of active football for three months and that means, the earliest he can kick a ball or start some light training is late February – that’s next year. We pray for him and believe he will recover well and be the Karim we all know in football again, Gor concluded.
