Chelsea great Frank Lampard has reportedly said that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho should not be blamed if they fail to win the Premier League title this season.

The former midfielder was speaking in a recent interview with Omnisport, where the Englishman went against popular opinion to state - If Manchester United don't win the Premier League, for me it's the quality of the players.

Lampard further defended Mourinho’s tactics, which have recently been criticised as ‘boring’ by adding - Mourinho is a manager that likes to win and he has a way of winning. It's different to Pep Guardiola, different to Antonio Conte and that's his way.

The 39-year-old also expects the English to giants ‘be competitive towards the end of the season’ despite a strong challenge from league leaders Chelsea, title favourites Manchester City and Tottenham.
