Vihiga United custodian heads to Hong Kong for trials

Vihiga United goalkeeper Franklin Mwenda might join Hong Kong Premier league side, Wofoo Tai-Po if he succeeds in trials with the club. 

 Mwenda, the second choice  keeper for the NSL side will leave the country on Saturday 11 November for Hong Kong where he is set to begin trials with the club.  Tai-Po are currently second in the Boc Life Hong Kong Premier League with 11 points behind leaders Kitchen FC who have 13 points. 

Mwenda said that Tai-Po's Team Manager Lee Ching Kin is organising for his travel to Hong Kong. He added that the team's scouts have been following his performance in the lower tier before inviting him for the trials. 

-Any player in Africa dreams of joining professional rank, 'll work hard to make the dream come true, he said. 

Coach's blessings 

Vihiga coach Edward Manoah said he was aware of Mwenda's move and wished him well.

 -Any coach in the world would want to see his player play professional football at any level and I am happy for Mwenda. I wish him well in the trials, said Manoah. 

Mwenda was relegated to number two keeper following the acquisition of former AFC Leopards keeper Barnaba Tiema in June 2017.
