Okoti returns to haunt Brewers as Sofapaka ends rough patch

Sofapaka ended their three-match winless run with a 1-0 win over former Kenyan Premier League champions, Tusker FC in a match staged at Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday 11 November.

Former Tusker man Humphrey Okoti scored the all-important goal in the 30th minute after capitalizing on an error from Tusker goalie, David Okello

Sofapaka started the match strongly and had two good chances inside the first ten minutes which Meshack Karani failed to utilize. His first attempt went narrowly wide while his second shot was saved by David Okello on the Brewers goal.

The hosts were finding it difficult to settle early on and Sofapaka had another glorious chance to take the lead in the 14th minute when Francis Ocholla burst forward and with only Okello to beat for the opener, the former Western Stima man shot directly at the keeper. Two minutes later Paul Odhiambo had a great chance to put Tusker ahead but the widely travelled forward spared his immediate former employer shooting wide while through on goal.

Batoto Ba Mungu's pressure finally paid off at the half-hour mark when former Tusker man Humphrey Okoti nodded home from a Rodgers Aloro cross after Okello who was off his line missed the ball leaving Okoti with an empty net to tap into. Sam Simbwa's charges continued pressing in search of more goals but had to be contented with a 1-0 advantage going into the break.

Sofaka continued pressing for more goals after the interval. Francis Ochola's attempt was blocked by Collins Shivachi while Umaru Kasumba saw his shot miss the target by inches. Shivachi had a go on goal from range at the hour mark but his attempt was not accurate and a minute later Aloro blocked a Paul Odhiambo goal bound shot.
