Ex-Arsenal captain regrets Barca stay

Thomas Vermaelen has admitted he was wrong to stay at Barcelona this summer in a big hint he will leave the club in January.

The Belgian central defender has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou having not been involved in La Liga or the Champions League under Ernesto Valverde.

-It wasn’t the right decision to say. Over the summer I thought it was right to stay and fight at Barcelona but in hindsight that was not correct. I don’t want to say anything (about specific clubs) because last time I talked about this I was misquoted, Vermaelen told Het Laatste Nieuws.

Last season, the former Arsenal defender was on loan at Italian side Roma but suffered with injuries.
