Manchester United are reportedly ready to pull out all the stops to sign Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler in the upcoming transfer window.

News outlet The Independent has claimed that United boss Jose Mourinho has placed the Spaniard at the top of his wish list for January after failing to land Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic last summer.

Mourinho had admittedly wanted to acquire four new players last summer but only managed to land three in striker Romelu Lukaku, centre-back Victor Lindelof and defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic, leaving the English giants without the necessary creativity up front to compete with their peers, evidenced by their recent struggles in the absence of midfield maestro Paul Pogba.

The Special One is said to be ready to meet the £40m asking price for the talisman, who has netted once and registered four assists in 11 appearances for the La Liga side this season since the tactician believes that the 20-year-old is the perfect man for the job.
