Venezuelan coach switches between two Kenyan defenders' teams

Coach Giovanni Savarese has been confirmed as the new coach for MLS side, Portland Timbers.

The 46-year-old arrives from the NASL league where he enjoyed five years of sustained success including a finalist slot in 2017 championship of the North American Super League.

The move sees the coach switch between coaching two teams that have Kenyan players in David Ochieng and Lawrence Olum.


-I am both excited and proud to become the head coach of the Portland Timbers, and this is an ideal fit and outstanding opportunity for me as I take the next step in my coaching career, Savarese said. 

Among the Venuezelan achievement is a leading Cosmos to three NSL title in five years.
