Wanga gets icing on cake, signs for Homeboyz
Kakamega Homeboyz has completed the signing of former Tusker FC striker Allan Wanga on a three-year deal after the attacker was released by the Brewers at the close of 2018 Kenyan Premier League campaign.
The former Sofapaka and AFC Leopards forward is arguably one of the most successful Kenyan footballers having played in Angola, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, Sudan and Tanzania. He has now landed in Kakamega signing a three-year deal, in addition to playing for the Mike Mururi coached side, Wanga will also serve as Kakamega county sports director.
-We have signed Wanga on a three-year contract. He's a big striker not only in the Kenyan Premier League but also in Africa. Wanga will not only play for us but also motivate and groom young players in the team because he's a role model to many for what he has achieved in his career so far, Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula told Futaa.com.
Growth of sports
Shimanyula has also thanked the county government for handing the Kenyan international the sports director's role opining that Wanga's experience as a footballer will help nurture other upcoming sportsmen in the entire county.
-I want to thank Governor Oparanya for appointing Wanga as a sports director, he has achieved a lot as a player and I know he will use his experience and expertise not only to nurture upcoming footballers but also other sportsmen in the county, he added.
Homeboyz finished 5th in the league in 2017 and will be keen on bettering the performance in 2018.
