Under the table sale? Nzoia coach not aware of striker's exit
Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Bernard Mwalala says he's not aware of Masita Masuta's reported transfer from the club to Ulinzi Stars.
On Sunday 7 January, Ulinzi confirmed that they have captured the former Muhoroni Youth striker from Nzoia Sugar on a three-year contract after striking a deal with the Millers.
Mwalala now says the technical bench has not been informed of the attacker's sale. According to Mwalala, Masuta is still a Nzoia Sugar player as he has a running contract with the club.
-The technical bench is not aware of Masuta's exit. We had a meeting with the club management and urged them to involve us in any sale of players because if a player leaves we will have to replace him as soon as possible. As far as we are concerned, Masita has absconded duty because he has a contract and no one has told us that the player has left, he said.
The former Kenyan international added that the striker's exit is a massive blow for his side as it's not easy to get a quality attacker to replace the burly forward who played a pivotal role in Nzoia's promotion to the Kenyan Premier League in 2016.
-If it's true that he has been sold then this will be a big blow for us because it's not easy to find a quality replacement within a short time. It will also be another case of bad management especially after we lost Lawrence Juma to Gor Mahia on the Bosman when he had signed a contract which was not delivered to the federation, he added.
Nzoia has already signed two other attackers; Morven Otinya and Patrick Odhiambo are now in the Millers' books.
