Mathare United goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya is looking forward to his return to training after a long absence from action last season due to a knee injury

Kasaya has so far joined his team mates for pre-season training at Goan Institute after undergoing surgery for a first degree meniscus tear.

Relief

- It feels good to be back. It has not been easy with the surgery and the recovery. It has taken a lot of sacrifice to reach here. I had to train throughout the Christmas holidays so that I would be ready to join the rest in January. I thank God for this far I have come, Kasaya said.

The former AFC Leopards goalie expects to feature in the first team this season as he works hard to full fitness.

Target

- I will be ready to play in two to three weeks. We have a target as a team but personally I will be fighting to be in the first 11 or the first 18, he added.

Mathare will open their campaign against newbies Vihiga United when the Kenya Premier League starts.
