Arsenal, Liverpool join race for City target
Arsenal has reportedly rekindled their interest in signing Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez in the summer.
Speaking at a press conference following their emphatic 5-1 win over Everton, Wenger was asked by an interviewer from BeIN Sports whether the Gunners made a bid for the Algerian in the recently concluded transfer window.
The 21-year manager skillfully dodged giving a direct answer to the question but added that the club is always on the lookout for top talent who can help the club meet its objectives in the ultra-competitive Premier League - a response which was interpreted to mean that a swoop for the 26-year-old could potentially be in the works.
Indian news outlet Star Sports has also alleged that Wenger ‘has regularly made checks’ on the wantaway - a development that suggests that the tactician has modestly chosen to remain mum on the issue.
Liverpool want Mahrez too!
Bitter rivals Liverpool are also believed to be in the running to the land the magician, who went AWOL from the King Power Stadium after his dream move to Manchester City fell through on transfer deadline day.
Manchester United and Chelsea are also rumoured to be closely monitoring the midfield maestro’s situation. City is, on the other hand, said to be planning to try their luck again.
