Wafula brace condemns Vihiga at Bukhungu

Kakamega Homeboyz has condemned Vihiga United to a 2-1 loss at Bukhungu as Noah Wafula bagged his first brace of the season on February 24th.

Noah Wafula was the man all the way from the first whistle as he scored two goals to open the score in the 2nd minute and in the 45th minute. Vihiga failed to deal with Homeboyz attacks as the hosts dominated in possession and proceedings. Defense lapse gifted Wafula a wonderful opportunity to open his league's and club's goal chart. His second came from a thunderbolt he sent towards goal and Barnabas Tiema failed to stop it from kissing the net.

Ali Bhai's powerful shot was stopped by Tiema as he punched the ball into play but Allan Wanga should have made good use of the resultant rebound which he sent wide inches from the right hand post.

Vihiga got their first notable chance through a corner kick which Patrick Okullo delivered but was cleared by Homeboyz defenders under pressure. Meanwhile, Edward Manoah protested vehemently on the touchline for what he perceived as poor officiating by the officials. He had to be restrained by the fourth official.

Untested Juma

Festo Omukoto blasted Wanga's fine cross when he should have only had a good first touch and finish cool. Omukoto was then substituted as he paved way for Esiye Estone.  Masinza had to try his luck by directing a long range towards David Juma's goal. Juma remained untested for much of the second half as was the case in the first. The match had to stop when Wanga and Tiema collided in the 54th minute when they went for  50-50 ball. The former Tusker man had to be replaced and his chance was taken by Lamine Diallo.

Dennis Wafula who came in for Michael Isabwa pulled one for Vihiga after Homeboyz were unable to clear the ball from their area. Wafula therefore scored from a close range. Resurgent Vihiga piled pressure in the last minutes and were almost rewarded when Murunga's header went inches off the goal mouth. Another chance went to waste as Wafula came close again beating Juma in goal but the post denied him a brace.
