Reports: Homeboyz coach set to ditch side for KPL newbies
Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Mike Mururi is set to ditch the Kakamega based side and join newbie, Vihiga United, as Edward Manoah's assistant.
Mururi was in charge of Homeboyz when they saw off Vihiga 2-1 on Saturday in what appears to have been his last match in charge of the side he joined in 2016.
He missed the team's training on Tuesday morning further fueling speculation that he's heading to the Vihiga County Government sponsored side but Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula says he's not privy to such developments.
"The coach told me he's sick and I gave him a day off to seek medication. I have heard the rumors that he could be heading to Vihiga but as the club chairman I can only speak once I get an official communication, I cannot rely on speculations. If indeed he has left then a will get a replacement, this club is now big and many coaches are interested in this job, Shimanyula told Futaa.com.
Efforts to reach Vihiga management for clarity proved futile as calls went answered. In Mururi's absence, Homeboyz technical director, Alfred Imonje took charge of the team's training on Tuesday.
