Sofa, Sharks maintains placement with Machakos stalemate

Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks have maintained their placement at third and fourth respectively after battling to a 0-0 draw this Saturday 10th March in Machakos.

Both sides entered the tie on back of wins from previous games but a match winner proved hard to come by in the largely balanced encounter.

Elli Asieche had the first chance of the game ten minutes in as he drove a left-foot shot just over Jeff Oyemba cross.

Eric Kapaito, straight from a stylish hat trick in last game, forced Mathias Kigonya in to a fine stop at the hour mark.

It's Sofa who proved the better side of the half with Kevin Kimani twice setting up Kefa Aswani and Umar Kasumba with teasing crosses.

Kapaito sidenets

Kapaito came back knocking moments after the break but the league lead scorer was forced to wait longer after getting the side of the net having slipped between Kigonya and Sofa back line.

Elli got a second bite at the cherry but there was no haunting his former team as Oyemba made himself big to deny him from point blank range.

Close yet far

Michael Bodo then had dangerous drive from outside the area whistling just off the bar in ongoing script of coming close yet so far in getting a breakthrough.

The cagey proceedings highlighted the subsequent late action with both side forced to contend with a point.
