Ulinzi secured a 1-0 win over troubled Kakamega Homeboyz in the KPL fifth-round tie on Saturday, thanks to a Masuta Masita's late strike at Bukhungu Stadium.

Homeboyz took the first chance of the game as early as seven minutes when they were awarded a corner and Asiye took it but it was cleared by Mohamed Hassan. A few minutes later Elvis Nandwa was booked for fouling Estone Esiye.

The Soldiers started to crawl gradually as they tried to press the hosts as early as the 13th minute. Kasuti and Wamalwa played one on one but it was so, unfortunately, Ouko Smith was there to defend, this came few minutes after Wamalwa had the chance to put the Soldiers in front but his header went wide.

Homeboyz were awarded the second corner but Nandwa was on the lookout and cleared it off the danger zone. The game stopped for a few minutes after Ahmed Alli collided with Waweru and the forward was stretched off with an injury and was replaced by Francis Ochola.

Nyaudo side was contained into its own half, while on the other side Homeboyz we're creating more chances in search for an opener but their efforts were all in vain.
