Beaten Homeboyz blame defence, injury

Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Mike Mururi has blamed his defence for the Saturday afternoon painful loss to Ulinzi Stars.

Speaking after the match, Mururi called out on his back line for miscommunication allowing their opponents to snatch the three points in the stoppage time. He also pointed out on his defender’s injury Mohamed Hassan who was forced off with an injury.

Repeated mistakes

“I think from misunderstanding and miscommunication on the defence side. It is very hard and I will try to talk to them because it is from the same mistakes that we are conceding goals. I will try and work on them before the next away match next week,” said Mururi.

“I have to work on corners because we’ve been conceding through the setpieces. We have to work on how we can defend corners because it is one of the main areas,” he added.

Homeboyz suffered their second consecutive game and the boss feels he has to work on shaping his side before it is too late in the season. The coach, however, believes that the players had the fighting spirit but this was damaged too when they lost a defender to injury.

Injury destabilizing

“Our game plan was destabilized when Mohamed Hassan left the pitch due to injury. We tried in the second half to come to the game by creating some opportunities but some of our players were a bit nervous in front of the goal,” he added.

The loss leaves the side at 11th on the standings, tied with SoNy and Posta Rangers, the former with a game at hand and the latter having drawn against Wazito in Narok earlier on Saturday.
