Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia had the luxury of a missed penalty in their game against Nzoia Sugar at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, but still managed a 1 – 0 win to keep their place at the summit of the log.

The result also means that after Mathare United FC’s 4 – 3 loss at the hands of AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia remains as the only unbeaten side in the league.

Not even the ten changes made by head coach Dylan Kerr going into the game, would deter the 16 – time league winners from beating their hard fighting visitors, who had come from the back of their first win of the season, beating Kakamega Homeboyz 3 – 1.

Kevin Ade Omondi was the skipper in the changed Gor team and he went on to score the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute, after taking a pass from midfielder Boniface Omondi.

In the 77th minute, Eliud Lokuwam who was introduced as a second half sub, won a penalty, which was taken by Wesley Onguso but that was saved by Nzoia keeper Eliud Mangala.

The win takes Gor Mahia five points clear at the summit, with 16 points from six matches while Nzoia will stay bottom with three points.

In other matches, Bandari FC beat Sony Sugar 3 – 0 while Chemelil Sugar were 4 – 1 winners over Nakumatt.
