Caf CC: Gor Mahia to play in an empty stadium

Gor Mahia has been dealt a blow ahead of Wednesday 16th May Caf Confederations Cup match against USM Algiers at Moi Kasarani Stadium after it was confirmed that no fans will be allowed into the stadium

Sports Kenya had earlier banned Gor Mahia from hosting the match at Kasarani after an incident during the match against Hull City last Sunday where chairs and other properties were reportedly destroyed by a group of fans who were trying to gain access to the stadium.

Upon intervention from Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Gor was allowed to host the match at Kasarani but fans will not be allowed into the stadium.

No fans

"We have been told that fans will not be allowed into the stadium. It's shocking because the Sunday event was not our event, it belonged to Sportpesa and they should be held accountable. I also think someone is misadvising the ministry of sports, what they are doing amounts to government interference and it can easily attract serious sanctions from Caf and Fifa," Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Aduda told Futaa. com.

The club is expected to engage the ministry of sports further in bid to find an amicable closure to the matter.
