Gor Mahia have not won the FKF Cup since 2012 and they will be making another attempt in 2018, after being one of the 13 Kenyan Premier League teams entering the competition and have revealed satisfaction at the draw conducted on Monday 21st May.

Team Manager Jolawi Obondo represented the side at the tournament launch and speaking after seeing his team handed a trip to Mombasa to play SS Assad, he said they will not be underrating the teamn despite the gap in experience.

Gor Mahia lost at this stage to a lowly ranked GFE 105 three years ago and the memory is still fresh and Obondo indicated that they will be keen to avoid a repeat.

“It is a fair draw and we have no problem at all traveling to the coast and from history, we will not be underrating any team. We will play Asad with the seriousness the game deserves, because everyone is still talking of the GFE 105 shocker some years back in Kisumu,” he said.

The tournament is scheduled to start on the June 1 – 3 weekend.
