FKF-KPL tussle over Mashemeji Derby heads to court

The tussle between Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and Kenyan Premier League Limited (KPL) over the Mashemeji Derby that is scheduled for Saturday 26th May at Bukhungu Stadium has now moved to the corridors of justice.

The two bodies are tussling following FKF's decision to cancel the derby to pave way for Harambee Stars friendly matches against Swaziland and Equatorial Guinea. KPL on the other hand insist that the derby is on and have now moved to the Sports Disputes Tribunal to challenge FKF's directive.

KPL argue that the Harambee Stars friendly match doesn't fall on FIFA calendar and as such clubs are not compelled to release players for the match.

Leopards, the host team also insist that the match is on and preparations for the same are at an advanced stage.
