Okoth: Vihiga win very important for us
Zoo FC head coach Sammy Okoth says his side's 1-0 away win over Vihiga United on Tuesday 12 June, is a big boost towards their fight to remain in the topflight.
Midfielder Bernard Odhiambo netted the game's only goal early in the second half to secure the vital three points, that lift the Kericho based side off the bottom of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) standings and into 15th with 19 points.
The clash played at the Mumias Sports Complex also saw Zoo striker Nicholas Kipkirui sent off for two bookable offences.
After the game Okoth praised his charges for their performance as they begin the second half of the season with a positive note.
He said, "We finished the first leg of the campaign in poor form so to win away helps us in building morale.
"We could not afford to lose the game as it is very congested at the bottom of the log. It is an important win that we hope to build on to facilitate our continued stay in the league."
Zoo will next take on another struggling side in Sony Sugar on Saturday 16 June at their Kericho Green Stadium.
