Meddie Kagere opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with Boniface Omondi netting the second before half-time helping Gor Mahia to have a commanding lead on the break. Francis Kahata "Wuod Nyambura" scored the third while Omondi netted his second of the game and fourth for the Kerr's men.

The league leaders started the game on high, keeping much of the possession and in the 2nd minute, they were in front. Innocent Wafula had the ball on the right wing and delivered a cross, Meddie Kagere raised high to head the ball into the back of the net.

Gor Mahia continued with the good display and could have grabbed the second in the 17th minute but Wazito shot stopper Philip Odhiambo moved quickly to stop Kahata’s through ball aimed at Tuyisenge. Just before the half-hour mark, the Green Army extended their lead through Boniface Omondi. After beating Otieno Isaac, he sent a screamer from outside the 18 area making it 2-0.

Wazito made their first change, a tactical one which saw Anthony Njeru leave the pitch for Eric Ochieng. Gor Mahia was also forced to make a substitute as Benard Ondiek came in for injured Humphrey Mieno.

Third goal scorer Francis Kahata was also taken off in the 78th minute and his place was taken by George Odhiambo.
