Ramos: We are together despite coaching drama

Spain is 'together' despite the sacking of Julen Lopetegui as head coach, Sergio Ramos admits.

Lopetegui was sacked as Spain head coach after accepting the offer to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. The 2010 champions will be led by Fernando Hierro with Spain's first Group B match taking place on Friday against  Portugal.

"We are the national team, we represent a shield, the colors, the fans, a country. The responsibility and commitment are with you and for you. Yesterday, today and tomorrow, together: #VamosEspana" Ramos tweeted.

Hierro, who won five La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues in a glittering Real Madrid career, has somewhat limited experience as a coach. He assisted Carlo Ancelotti during the 2014/15 season and took over at Real Oviedo in 2016/17.

He has been Spain's Sporting Director since  November 2017.
